Q: How do I receive the latest road conditions to my email or cell phone as a text message?
A: In July & August from Thursday afternoon through Monday morning, send a blank email or text message to .

cell phone number and choose your cell phone carrier. Once you click the submit
button you will receive an activation code to your cell phone, you will need to
enter this code to complete your registration.

A: Yes, you can receive the alerts to your Blackberry® or other hand-held device as emails. Signup up at the signup page with your cell number, in the first email field, enter the email address that is picked up by your hand-held and for delivery method, choose "Email".

Q: Is there a fee to become a member of Roadinform.com?
A: There is no fee at all. This is a free public service. However, your mobile provider's standard rates for sending and receiving text messages still apply.

A: Roadinform.com has a strict privacy policy and does not disclose or share member information with any third party or organization.

A: Send a text message (SMS) or email to from your hand held device with the information you wish to share with other motorists. As soon as we receive the message it will be reviewed by one of our administrators and an alert will be sent out within minutes to all members.

A: Kol Mevasser reports the traffic on the phone at 212-444-1100, press option #7 to listen to the latest traffic report.

A: On Kol Mevasser's traffic section you can report traffic incidents at 212-444-1100, press option #7 then #2.

Q: Can I modify the days and areas I want to be alerted about?
A: Once you have logged into your account you can modify the days and areas you want be alerted about. This can be done at any time and as frequently as needed.

Q: Can I set my account so that I shouldn’t be receiving alerts when I am not on the road or if I won't be traveling for a period of time?
A: You can log into your account using the cell phone number and password you chose at the time you signed up. Once you’re in your account you will have the option to turn the alerts on and off. This can be done at any time and as frequently as needed.

Q: I don't always have internet access, can I turn off Roadinform.com's alerts from my hand-held?
A: Yes. Send a text message (SMS) or email to: , in the message type the number: 999, don't type anything before 999 and leave the subject line empty (it won't stop the alerts if you type 999 only in the subject line).

Q: I don't always have internet access, can I turn back on Roadinform.com's alerts from my hand-held?
A: Yes. Send a text message (SMS) or email to: , in the message type the number: 101, don't type anything before 101 and leave the subject line empty (it won't start the alerts if you type 101 only in the subject line). This feature will only work if you're a member of RoadInform.com.

A: Yes. Send a blank text message (SMS) or email to: , you will get a response with the lastest alerts from the past three hours.

Q: Can I search for a specific keyword and get a text message or email of alerts with the specific keyword?
A: Yes. Send a text message (SMS) or email to: and enter into the message (leave the subject line empty) the keyword (e.g. fdr, nj 17, etc), you will get a response with the lastest alerts for the keyword searched from the past three hours.
